Virchow Prize Ceremony 2025

According to the Virchow Foundation, "The Virchow Prize recognizes and celebrates groundbreaking research, major innovations and outstanding contributions with significant impact. With this award, stellar achievements “towards health for all” and hence for the planet’s liveability are honoured." This year, the laureates are Quarraisha Abdool Karim and Zulfiqar A. Bhutta for their pioneering, lifelong contributions to maternal, newborn, and child health.

Virchow Prize Lecture 2025

The 2025 Virchow Prize Lecture, hosted by ESMT Berlin, was held on October 10, 2025 and published simultaneously in The Lancet. Delivered by Professors Quarraisha Abdool Karim and Zulfiqar A. Bhutta, the lecture highlighted how community partnerships, political engagement, and responsible leadership turn research into real-world impact.
