About

ARE YOU READY TO SHAPE TOMORROW'S SCIENTIFIC BREAKTHROUGHS, TODAY?

At CAPRISA, we believe that the future is now!

CAPRISA's Fellowship Programme exists to inspire and empower tomorrow's research leaders, fearless innovators dedicated to advancing scientific discovery in HIV and TB and transforming lives in South Africa and beyond.

Since its launch in 2003, the programme has supported 702 Fellowship Programme participants and 792 clinician students through the Clinical Research Placement Programme. Together, they form a growing community of researchers and healthcare professionals contributing to the future of HIV research and public health.

OUR PROGRAMME OFFERS TWO PATHWAYS FOR ASPIRING RESEARCHERS AND HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS TO DEVELOP THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

The Fellowship Programme

The CAPRISA Fellowship programme seeks to achieve the following objectives:

  • To afford Fellows the opportunity to work and exchange ideas with experienced researchers in HIV/AIDS and TB
  • To engage Fellows in cutting edge trans-disciplinary research
  • To deepen Fellows’ understanding about HIV pathogenesis, prevention and treatment
  • To help Fellows strengthen their research skills
  • To train Fellows in the disciplines that support the research activities

Research Placement Programme

The Clinical Research Placement Programme is available to MBChB students registered with the University of KwaZulu-Natal who are interested in clinical research.

This programme gives future clinicians the opportunity to:

  • Gain practical experience in a leading research environment
  • Work alongside experienced clinical researchers
  • Develop valuable research skills that complement clinical training
  • Discover how research can improve patient care and transform lives
