As the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) responds to a Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak, the Global Virus Network (GVN) brought together frontline outbreak leaders from the DRC, the World Health Organization (WHO), Africa CDC, and GVN Centers of Excellence to discuss the evolving outbreak, ongoing response efforts, diagnostic challenges, and implications for regional and global health security. Experts provided firsthand updates from the field, discussed surveillance and contact tracing efforts, highlighted the importance of community engagement and trust, examined challenges associated with diagnosing and responding to Bundibugyo Ebola, and explored priorities for therapeutics, vaccines, outbreak preparedness, and international coordination.
