Tanuja Gengiah

Dr Tanuja Gengiah B.Pharm, MClinPharm, MS(Epi), PhD is a senior scientist with over 22 years of experience advancing HIV prevention, treatment, and women’s health research in South Africa. She is Principal Investigator of the Vaginal Microbiome Clinical Trials Unit and Head of Pharmacy at CAPRISA, where she provides strategic leadership for complex clinical trials, investigational product management, and research pharmacy systems. Her work focuses on innovative HIV prevention technologies, vaginal microbiome therapeutics, and improving TB/HIV treatment outcomes. A committed mentor and capacity builder, she also serves as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, supporting the development of the next generation of clinical researchers in Africa.
