Investigating the relationship between genital inflammation, BV – associated mucosal changes, and the regulation of MMPs and TIMPs in women using oral PrEP within the CAPRISA 082 cohort
My immediate career aspiration is to transition from my Master’s studies into a PhD fellowship, where I can deepen my expertise in mucosal immunology, medical microbiology, and host-pathogen interactions. Having built a strong foundation in analysing tissue microenvironments and clinical cohort datasets, I am driven to master advanced translational research methodologies. I aim to bridge the gap between high-quality wet-lab data generation and sophisticated biostatistical workflows, leveraging tools like R and GraphPad Prism to uncover robust, publication-ready clinical insights. In the long term, my vision is to progress into a scientific leadership role within a prominent clinical research organisation or biotechnology institution in South Africa.
