Dr Navisha Dookie (PhD) is a research scientist at CAPRISA in HIV/TB treatment. Her PhD in Medical Microbiology focuses on the identification and elucidation of the mechanisms of drug resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the causative agent of tuberculosis.
She is the recipient of several highly prestigious scholarships and grants, the NRF Innovation Masters and Doctoral scholarship, the National Research Foundation (NRF) Post-Doctoral scarce-skills fellowship, the NRF Thuthuka grant and the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) career development award. She is also a co-investigator on the National Institutes of Health (NIH)- AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG) network study.
