Dr Kapil Narain, MBCHB, is a medical doctor, aspiring scientist, multi-award-winning youth leader and One Young World ambassador based in Durban, South Africa. He is currently serving his internship at King Edward Hospital.
Dr Narain serves on the Advisory board for the African Forum for Primary Health Care (AfroPHC) which advocates for Universal Health Coverage and is Deputy Chairperson of the Active Citizens Movement. He was also a member of the African Youth Front – an initiative of the African Union and Africa CDC. In 2020, he was listed on Mail & Guardian’s 200 Young South African’s and in 2019 attended the World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland and was a recipient of the prestigious Abe Bailey Travel Bursary.
Narain has a desire for activism and has tackled HIV, TB, mental health stigma, gender based violence. He is currently co-leading #Vaxxtime a global youth driven campaign to combat misinformation and raise Covid-19 vaccine uptake and vaccine equity.
