CAPRISA Post-Doctoral Fellowship
The Centre for the AIDS Programme of Research in South Africa (CAPRISA) is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and independent postdoctoral researcher to work on a project which seeks to explore mucosal biomakers of susceptibilty to HIV and other STIs.
The duration of the post-doctoral fellowship is 12 months, with the opportunity for extension.
PLEASE NOTE: The project involves work on mucosal specimens. Due to the timing of specimen collection, laboratory work may be required outside of office hours.
Qualifications and Experience
- PhD in Immunology, Medical Virology/ Microbiology, or a relevant field
- Solid background in immunology, cell biology, microbiology, or virology
- Proven track record of publishing papers in international peer-reviewed journals, conference presentation, securing research funding, and conducting collaborative research
- Advanced technical skill in multiplexed ELISA, PCR, flow cytometry, biostatistics
- Experience with bioinformatics analysis is optional but preferable
- Experience with training and overseeing students and supporting junior team members
- Ability to contribute to experimental design
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to prepare results for publication and draft manuscripts
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
