CAPRISA Post-Doctoral Fellowship

The Centre for the AIDS Programme of Research in South Africa (CAPRISA) is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and independent postdoctoral researcher to work on a project which seeks to explore mucosal biomakers of susceptibilty to HIV and other STIs.

The duration of the post-doctoral fellowship is 12 months, with the opportunity for extension.

PLEASE NOTE: The project involves work on mucosal specimens. Due to the timing of specimen collection, laboratory work may be required outside of office hours.

Qualifications and Experience

  • PhD in Immunology, Medical Virology/ Microbiology, or a relevant field
  • Solid background in immunology, cell biology, microbiology, or virology
  • Proven track record of publishing papers in international peer-reviewed journals, conference presentation, securing research funding, and conducting collaborative research
  • Advanced technical skill in multiplexed ELISA, PCR, flow cytometry, biostatistics
  • Experience with bioinformatics analysis is optional but preferable
  • Experience with training and overseeing students and supporting junior team members
  • Ability to contribute to experimental design
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to prepare results for publication and draft manuscripts
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good project and time management skills
  • Team orientated
