Mark N. Lurie, PhD, is a social epidemiologist and an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Community Health at Brown University Medical School/The Miriam Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island USA.
As a Senior Scientist with the South African Medical Research Council between 1996 and 2000, Dr. Lurie conducted research on the concurrent HIV/AIDS, STI, and TB epidemics in sub-Saharan Africa. His primary research has been on the role of population movement, or migration, on the spread of HIV in South Africa.
He was the PI of a 3-year cohort study, with behavioural and biological outcomes, among migrant and non-migrant men and their rural partners in South Africa.
