Mr F van Loggerenberg

Francois van Loggerenberg (MA (Psychology)) is a registered research psychologist. He has spent several years teaching psychology, statistics and research methodology at the tertiary level. In 2002 he was a Fogarty AITRP pre-Doctoral fellow at the Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine. He has been appointed an honorary lecturer in the Department of Community Health and is frequently called on to teach biostatistics, behavioural interventions in HIV, and research methodologies to various groups at the medical school. Currently he is the project Coordinator for the CAPRISA acute infection project. In this role he is responsible for coordinating the protocol development process, the submission of ethics committee applications, cohort coordination and management, and developing systems for the recruitment and maintenance of the various cohorts. He is also responsible for the maintenance of the source documents at the Durban site to ensure regulatory requirements are met. He has research interests in the socio-behavioural aspects of HIV infection, psychometrics and instrument development, and research design and analysis.
